I Ride To Write

But don’t make any money

--

The truth is, I do make some money from writing (on Medium) but I only earn enough to pay for my coffee. Nowhere near enough to pay for the cake that comes with my coffee. So I have to do “other work” to pay for the cake.

But the time on my bike is the real reward, and it’s priceless.

So everything else I do is buying my bike, my bike time and a little bit of Rapha (bikers know all about Rapha).

I’m not a great rider though, I’m not aiming to win big races, get more kudos on Strava, or ride around the world so I can write a book. I’m just doing things and going places while I still have the physical ability to do so. I travelled from a young age and have managed to continue to do this throughout my life for work and for races; the Sahara, the Amazon, the Yukon and many other places yet still so many more to see.

Which is why right now, life is no longer a race but a slow meandering journey. Long live the life of bike.
