1. I'm not aware of a detour so will have a look as this part is not far from my house.

2. I do state on the route guide that section is hike-a-bike for most people. I have ridden it in the last few months even when it was still boggy in places and a good experienced off road rider will be able to ride most if not all of it on a rigid front fork bike. But HAB is part of the fun and adventure of gravel/adventure biking. You had amazing weather, were in a remote part of Dartmoor and had to push your bike for maybe 2% of your overall ride.

Try and appreciate where you are, look around you, enjoy some beautiful wilderness.

Dartmoor is rugged in places as you've seen but it is also beautiful and HAB allows you to slow down and enjoy life. Don't let hate control your mind and experience. The trail has nothing to say in return and will be the same for the next person.

The trail does not hate, it just is.
